Regal Investments Launches Public Platform for Investment Education, Research and Practice

Regal Investments today announced the launch of its public platform at regalinvestments.ca/public, an ecosystem for investment education, research and practice. The platform is built for people at every stage of an investing career, from those learning to read a set of financial statements to professionals preparing to allocate capital.

Blueprints

The core of the platform is a series of structured programmes, called Blueprints, that progress from introductory to selective:

• Investor Foundations: business quality, financial statement analysis and the principles of valuation. Free to all members.
• Investor Analyst: integrated financial modelling, the equity research process and the investment memorandum.
• Hedge Fund Manager: portfolio construction, short selling, risk management and the operation of an investment fund.
• Acquisition Entrepreneur: the search for, valuation, financing and ownership of a private business.
• M&A Advisor: buyer universe mapping, sale process design, negotiation and transaction completion.
• Capital Allocator Fellowship: a selective sixteen-week cohort programme with sector coverage, original research and an investment committee.

Each Blueprint combines lessons, worked examples, interactive exercises and assignments, and each module ends in a piece of work the member produces rather than a quiz.

The simulated fund

Alongside the Blueprints, members can run a simulated $1,000,000 portfolio priced from live market data. Each book is managed under a mandate with position and sector limits, a minimum number of holdings and a cash range; orders that would breach the mandate are refused with the reason. Members record a thesis for each position, respond to client events, and have their work reviewed by an investment committee, with books ranked publicly on return against contributed capital.

The simulated fund uses virtual capital only. No member capital is pooled, collected or managed.

An ecosystem for future investors

Membership is offered in four tiers: Foundation, which is free, followed by Analyst, Professional and the selective Fellowship.
